Volunteer Highlight // Meg DiAngelus Rogan

Meet Meg! She’s one of our college student leaders and serves on the worship team! At 18, she heard the gospel for the first time at her friend’s church, but it wasn’t until January 2023—during a worship service at a retreat—that she truly believed, encountering the undeniable presence of God.

Fun Fact: “I found out about a Harbor City College Bible Study through the CofC Snapchat story, which led me to try Harbor City! My life has radically changed since encountering Jesus, especially because of the community He’s blessed me with. Harbor City has become home—a new family of believers who build me up and are always there.”

“I remember praying that God would use my gifts for His glory after spending so long using them for the world. What drew me into serving at Harbor City, specifically, is that no matter the position, service, or things demanded, it never looked or felt like the typical “volunteer” work I had seen. Nobody was lording it over anyone else, being prideful, or complaining. I saw it in a new light. It wasn’t a “thing to do” but it was a gift from God that we get to do with joy as God uses our gifts!”

Serving has grown her humility and dependence on God, revealing her weaknesses and reminding her just how sovereign He is—not only to bless us with gifts, but to faithfully provide opportunities to use them. As she reflects on her time in Kids Ministry, she said “At first, it seemed small, but looking back, it connected me with pastors, families, and led me to serve in Students, College, and Worship. I’ve gained mentors and friendships I never imagined!”

✨ Get to know Meg:
— Favorite hobbies: cooking, playing guitar, singing, surfing, being outside, and she absolutely LOVES getting a matcha latte and going for a long, intentional walk with a friend!
— Something she wants to try: Fasting—“I’m praying for wisdom and doing research to start soon!”
— Her advice on volunteering: “100% do it. It builds humility, grows our relationships, and gives God space to move and grow the gifts He placed in us!”

Join us for our theology class on April 27th from 4-6pm! We will be diving deeper into the topic of Humanity 🌎 Throughout this year, we are offering foundational theology classes for your growth in understanding Christian belief and how to apply that theology.

For Easter Sunday, we took a break from our Ten Co

For Easter Sunday, we took a break from our Ten Commandments sermon series and focused on the Book of John in chapter 20, where it focuses on the encounters of John, Mary, and Thomas and Jesus' victory of death, sin, and suffering.

"Jesus is not just the resurrected One. He has resurrected. He has come through death, through suffering, and what that means for us is all of us who experience suffering. It means that our suffering is not the final word in our lives!"

🤔 'Show me your scars...' Thomas needed proof, but Jesus showed us something greater - that our suffering isn't the end of our story. It's part of our redemption.

As a part of Harbor City's 12-month discipleship initiative, we are committed to building our lives on Jesus and saying yes to God in multiple areas of our lives. One of the areas that we are focusing on this year is our spiritual health. Matthew 7:24-25 says "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."

A strong spiritual life starts with a firm foundation in Jesus Christ. You may be tempted to build your life on temporary things—success, relationships, or personal achievements—but only Christ provides a foundation that withstands life’s storms. When we listen to His words and live by them, we are rooted in unshakable truth.

Jesus teaches that hearing His words isn’t enough; we must act on them. A life built on Christ is marked by obedience, not perfection. The more we seek Him through Scripture, prayer, and obedience, the more secure we become in our faith, no matter what trials come our way.

Practical Steps for Today:
1. Read Scripture daily. Set aside time each day to read and reflect on God’s Word.
2. Memorize a key verse. Start with Matthew 7:24-25 to remind yourself of the importance of building your life on Jesus.
3. Pray for a firm foundation. Ask God to help you build your life on His truth rather than temporary things.
